Science class today consisted of learning about the Earth's atmosphere layers and about weather, particularly winds. We also touched on air pressure and the girls were completely amazed that a piece of paper has approximately 1100 lbs of air pressure pushing down on it and our science book 2900 lbs of pressure. Of course next came the inevitable question, "how can we have that much air pressure pushing down on us and we are still able to move?" It was then explaining to them that our bodies were made to with stand the enormous amount of pressure. Our bodies are hollow thus allowing us to have the same pressure inside and out so we don't feel the pressure. However if you go diving you will feel the added pressure of the water pressing down on you. Yeah, I don't think they came away full of knowledge on that answer, LOL.
